The quiet revolutionary

Dear Reader,

Dr. John M. Perkins, the sharecropper’s son who became a global icon for racial reconciliation and the “father of Christian Community Development,” died Friday, March 13, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family. He was 95.

Perkins had been under hospice care since early March, closing a life defined by what he called a “quiet revolution” of love, justice, and the gospel.

In addition to reporting on news of his death, we've published online for the first time our exclusive 2018 Q&A with Dr. Perkins about his book One Blood, which he presented as a final message to the church.

Best,

-Nicola, Managing Editor
